Dr. Colleen Scott, Psy.D., C.Psych
Dr. Scott is the founder of Child Psych Ottawa. With over 20 years in the field, Dr. Scott has provided intervention to children and families across a variety of settings including community mental health centres, schools, child welfare offices, juvenile justice facilities, and private practice. She was a clinical supervisor for 10 years mentoring and training early career psychologists and masters level therapists in psychological assessment and intervention for children and families.
Dr. Scott has experience providing psychotherapy to children, families, and adults with a wide variety of presenting challenges. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, ADHD, developmental concerns, parent-child attachment, grief/loss, and trauma. Dr. Scott additionally has expertise in early childhood mental health (ages 0-5) and working with foster/adopted children. Dr. Scott’s approach to therapy is from a developmental and attachment perspective that considers the unique characteristics and strengths of every child and family. She works collaboratively with her clients to identify areas of growth and uses interventions aimed to improve relationships, positive behaviours, and emotional wellbeing. Creative modalities such as art, play, and narrative therapy are often integrated into her work.
