Child therapy (ages 4 -10)
Individual therapy for children provides them with a safe space to explore their emotions, behaviours, and relationships. Through play and art, children can communicate what might be difficult to express in words, such as anger, sadness, and anxiety. This approach helps children build emotional regulation, self-esteem, and social skills; all crucial for long-term emotional growth and positive relationships.
Sessions may include play-based activities, art, sand tray, and skill-building exercises matched to your child’s needs. Parents are part of the process, with regular check-ins so you can see progress, understand what’s working, and apply the skills into everyday life.
Adolescent Therapy (ages 11-14)
Adolescence is a critical time for emotional development, and therapy can help adolescents manage the pressures of school, relationships, and growing independence. Through a combination of activity therapy and talk therapy, we work with adolescents to address issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and stress management. Interventions are targeted to support adolescents develop healthy coping strategies and increase self-confidence.
We balance adolescent needs for independence and privacy with the awareness that they are still part of a family system and benefit from parent participation and partnership. We ask for and welcome parent input and make an effort to facilitate communication between adolescents and their parents. When appropriate, we meet with parents without adolescents present in order to provide feedback and offer troubleshooting and collaborative support.
Family Therapy
We utilize collaborative approaches to support improved family relationships, communication, and overall functioning. Family therapy sessions focus on interaction patterns within the family system rather than isolated individual issues. We address emotional and behavioral concerns by exploring how family members interact and using this shared understanding to resolve conflicts, adjust to difficult changes, and build healthier relationships.
Parent Support Services
Parent support and coaching provides caregivers with tools and strategies for responding to parenting challenges. We work to strengthen attachment and provide developmental guidance through evidence-based interventions.
School Consultation
We provide consultation with educators to support the social, emotional, and behavioural needs of children in school and daycare settings. This may include school observations when appropriate, support and guidance with IEP meetings, direct contact with school staff, or letter writing.
